Anyway I thought I would create a thread on video games. In this thread I thought we could recommend games and give a small review on them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Game: Frozen Synapse
Platform:PC (sorry console dudes)
Cost: $24.99 (however that you gets you a free gift copy, so hell why not sell it on)
Premise: Turn based tactical shooter strategy thing (its a pretty new idea)
Review:
Well let me just start off by saying HELL YEAH THIS GAME IS AWESOME AND SO BLOODY HARD...
Well to a gamer like me who likes a good challenge then this ticks all boxes. This game is hard, like really really hard. Don't expect you can just drop in and be a total master of the game.
You are going to need to practise...
A lot...
Now the basic game mechanics are simple enough.
You control a small group of soldiers and in the main game mode (death match) surprise surprise you have to kill the other team. You do this by individually selecting soldiers and giving them orders such as; go over there facing that way after this amount of time.
And I mean yeah that is pretty sweet and the controls are intuitive and everything BUT where this game truly blows your mind is the actual game play.
You really have to think each individual move out and run a lot of simulations trying out each different strategy, and the enemy's strategy until you come up with the perfect plan!
SUCCESS
And then it turns out the other guy came up with a better one....
I mean I spent half an hour trying to come up with the perfect plan to kill this dude who was behind cover with a shotgun. Again and again I tried out different ways all of them ending up with my little dude dying a horrible death. And that moment when I worked out a successful plan and executed it?
Yeah felt pretty freaking good
To sum it up: If you like a good challenge and like tactical games in anyway then why are you not getting this game? It's really good
7/10
Oh yeah I forgot to mention it has a kick ass soundtrack
